For this 2nd edition of Precious Pearls, our new special series when we share exceptional projects that have been created by designers & architects with Siminetti Mother of Pearl surfaces, we have collaborated with James Brookman Design.

We had the pleasure to welcome Jim Brookman to our world’s first Mother of Pearl Showroom as our guest designer during London Design Week at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.

Jim took our guests through the story and behind the scenes of the creation of the world’s largest 100% mother of pearl mural in a private wellness suite. Catch up with the story of this unique and totally bespoke piece of art if you missed it!

The Client Brief

To create an exceptional wellness suite that reflected their passion for sailing and remind them of their time on their yacht in the Greek Isles – an indulgent space to escape to.

Feature Wall Concept

A delicate mother of pearl mosaic mural, reminiscent of sunlight on the open water was created as a focal point.

Measuring 8.5mtrs wide and 2.6mtrs high, the mural depicts images of a greek island, sun setting over the ocean and yachts at anchor.

Handcrafted from freshwater and saltwater pearl, the mural curves around the feature wall behind the client’s swimming pool.

100% handcrafted

Inspired by Siminetti’s beautifully handcrafted mosaics, the mural demonstrates how the mosaics can be used to create imagery with a subtle change of colour and direction.

Siminetti dedicated a team of 4 skilled craftspeople that took 12 weeks to create the mural equating to 2304 manhours.
